UT Dallas wins the 2013 Coca-Cola NetBase UT Dallas Social Media Case Competition

A team of four UT Dallas MS in Marketing and MBA marketing students recently competed against three prestigious Universities: The University of Chicago-Loyola, Northwestern and the University of Rochester in a social media case competition sponsored by Coca Cola, NetBase and UT Dallas. The prize money was $8,000 for First Place and $2,000 dollars for Second Place. The competition was a 1-1/2 day event which kicked off at 8:30 am on March 28th when students received a case packet. Students then worked on the case until the next day which started at 9 am. The UT Dallas team worked through the night.

Needless to say, UT Dallas won 1st prize by a unanimous vote by the NetBase, Coca Cola and Richards Group judges. Northwestern University won 2nd place. The Judges said the UT Dallas presentation had a very comprehensive analysis, insights and cohesive marketing recommendations which made use of many marketing principles from segmentation and advertising/direct marketing. In addition, the team came up with a fantastic creative which combined with their other deliverables put them over the top.

Congratulations to our students–Preston Hanisko (Team Captain), Troy Prestenberg, Xi Yan and Gamze Ozkan who represented UT Dallas JSOM Marketing so well!
